Club Outdoor Trophies - About

 Meriden

The club trophies have previously been contested on specific shooting days, but we thought that a good idea was to allow members to shoot the rounds throughout the year, with the winner being the archer with the highest score (or adjusted highest score for handicap trophies).

For those that are not familiar with handicap adjusted scores, after the completion of three rounds an archer will be given a handicap, this rating can be used in conjunction with the published set of tables to give an archer an allowance to be added to their score achieved on the day, to give them a Handicap Adjusted Score, this allows all different ability archers to compete against each other, as normally the archer with the highest handicap adjusted score is the person who has shot better on the day than their current handicap rating.

For Example

Archer A has a handicap rating of 35 and Archer B has a handicap rating of 49. Now both archers are competing on the Western

So even though Archer A scored more on the round his score was less than the handicap prediction, therefore Archer B would have the highest handicap adjusted score.

Please be aware that archers wanting to compete for the handicap trophies must use either the handicap achieved last year, or the current handicap, whichever is the lowest value.

Prior to completing a round for a handicap trophy archers must check on the Members Scoring Website that their handicap hasn’t changed throughout the season.

The scoresheets with the allowances will be in the club house to help score the round. Please hand in any handicap scoresheets to the Records Officer, Leon Newby.
