Indoor Leagues 2017/18 Season Summary

A massive thank you to all archers who submitted scores for all the Indoor League during the 2017/18 season.

The more archers who submit scores, the better our chances of winning. On some occasions we lost matches because we didn’t have enough team members. I encourage all Braintree Archers and Junior Archers to shoot Bray rounds and submit scores and I will be hassling you all come October - Toby.

Bray League

Braintree Bowmen entered two Recurve teams, one Compound and one Longbow team. A special mention to the following archers who submitted scores for every match.

Derek Chavner

Paul Ramos

Alex Downer

James Moir

Rachel Sheppard

Adam Roberts

Thanks to Dennis Saville for running the Bray league again this year.

Recurve

Braintree Bowmen have two teams in the Recurve League; Braintree “A” play in Division One and Braintree “B” play in Division Three.

There were two matches in April and we took points in all to end the season on a high, although Braintree “B” had a bye in match seven and Phoenix failed to field a team in match six.

Competition was hot in Division One and Braintree “A”, with the same points as Colchester “A”, was ahead on total score and therefore took second place behind Chelmsford Tudor Rose who won all their matches.

In Division Three, Braintree “B” maintained a clean sheet winning all matches and having the highest total score. We can look forward to tougher opposition in Division Two next season.

Long Bow

We have struggled to submit enough longbow scores this season and this is reflected in our results. We lost our last two matches and finished second from bottom in Division One

Compound

There were no Compound matches in March as the two compound leagues have fewer teams so season end results are as shared last month. Like longbow we have struggled to field a team this season.

Andy Harris Indoor League

We finished mid-table in Division Two this year after losing our last match to the division winners, Noak Hill.

A special mention to Scott Litton-Hayes who was the only archer who submitted scores for every match. I can’t help thinking that we could have finished second overall if we had been able to field a full team for our first match back last October.

Congratulations to Rachel Sheppard who was highest placed Braintree lady in 7th place. And Scott Litton Hayes who was highest placed Braintree gent in 11th place

Thanks to Marlene Hutchins for running the Andy Harris league again this year.

Perris Archery Junior Indoor Postal League

Braintree team were up against tough competition in Division One and with the team only fielding two archers for the last two matches of the season a further wins against West Essex and Guildford “A” were not expected.

There are six recurve divisions, 48 teams and 231 Junior recurve archers in total. Braintree Juniors ended the season 5th in the Division One which was won by Rayleigh “A” with a clean sweep.

A special mention to the following archers who submitted scores for every match.

1. Sam Moir

2. Sydney Strugnell

Daniel moves up to seniors next season but we have many more juniors who have joined the club recently so I encourage everyone to submit a score each month. It’s a great way to track your progress and represent the club while shooting in a relaxed atmosphere at your home ground.

Thanks to Paul Ramos for administrating the League.
